Apple Pay is a mobile wallet buyers can use to check out with one tap. This can streamline the purchasing process for Apple Pay users. Offering the various payment options in your online store can help you get more clients and increase your checkout conversions.

Note

Apple has country restrictions. Check whether you can make payments with Apple Pay.

In the store control panel, Apple Pay is set up through Stripe, a fast and trustworthy payment gateway that allows you to receive a variety of payment methods from all over the world including credit and debit cards, mobile wallets, and dozens of other options your customers prefer.

Configure Apple Pay

To accept Apple Pay, you can simply add Apple Pay payment method in your Stripe account connected to your store. If you don’t have a Stripe account, you can create one fast and easily.

To accept payments in your online shop via Apple Pay:

  1. In the side panel, click Sell Online, and then click Manage Store.

  2. Click Payment.

  3. In the stripe section, click Connect and Enable. You’ll be redirected to the Stripe website where you can login into your existing Stripe account or create a new one. If you create a new Stripe account, you’ll need to fill in the information about your business and then Stripe will connect to your store. After that you will be redirected to your store.

  4. Make sure that Apple Pay payment method is activated in your Stripe account. To check, click Manage account in the store control panel to open your Stripe Dashboard. On your Stripe Dashboard, go to SettingsPayment Methods and find the Apple Pay method. If it is not activated, see Enable Apple Pay on your Stripe account for information on how to activate it.

    Note

In Stripe, site verification will not be necessary. Simply enter in your website.

  5. After activating Stripe payment method, make sure that the Enable this payment method at checkout setting in your store control panel is turned on to display Apple Pay payment at checkout.

Why is the Apple Pay button not showing at checkout?

There may be multiple reasons why you don’t see the Apple Pay button in your store. To fix it, try these troubleshooting steps:

  • Your store meets all requirements for using Apple Pay:

    • Stripe is enabled.

    • Your site runs on HTTPS.

  • You use a device that is compatible with Apple Pay and you have an active Wallet.

  • Your Stripe account must be in live mode, i.e. able to accept real transactions. To check that, go to your eCommerce dashboard → Payment → Stripe and see if there are any warnings about accepting live charges.
